I’ve been quiet on the blog front because I have had a break visiting my daughter in Cornwall and re-acquainting myself with my year old grandson, Sonny. Not quite a coincidence but the visit was at the same time as the St. Ives Music Festival, always a pleasant experience. With eclectic tastes in music we purchased tickets for Eliza Carthy (folk) and The Jive Aces (swing, jazz) both at the Guildhall, St. Ives. With unreserved seats we arrived early to make sure we had a good view, in the case of The Jive Aces, on the front row. Two excellent shows. Check out these links http://www.eliza-carthy.com/eliza/index.cfm for Eliza Carthy and http://www.jiveaces.com/ for The Jive Aces.
Whilst in Cornwall besides chilling out we had a “busman’s” holiday at the Truro Half Marathon, a highly recommended and well organized race starting and finishing in the beautiful city of Truro. Photographs will appear later. Results at http://www.trurorunningclub.org.uk/Race%20Results.htm
Visits to St. Ives itself, Penzance, Sennen Cove and the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno kept us busy for the rest of the week and all this was preceded with a visit to Monkey World. Here we were hoping to see our adoptive orang-utan, Tuan. I think he must have been hiding away from the sun and we were disappointed at missing him but there was plenty to see if a little quiet.
Back in Birmingham meant literally landing running, with plenty of emails to deal with and numerous phone messages. Catching up after a holiday is always a pain. The day after, took me to Walsall for the 10k. I needed to distribute the Home International Open Cross Country Race entry forms to as many runners as possible. This will be the pattern over the next few weekends on the run up to the race. Click here for a form…Entry Form Open Race
